What is CL:AIRE?
CL:AIRE Definition of Waste: Code of Practice (DoW CoP) provides a clear, consistent and efficient process, enabling the reuse of excavated material on-site or movement between sites.
The use of DoW CoP supports the sustainable and cost-effective development of land which promotes the reuse of material, reduction in waste, disposal and cost.
DoW CoP is supported by the Environment Agency (EA) Position Statement.
They consider the reuse of suitable soils in accordance with DoW CoP as a non-waste, and outside the regulation of waste materials if they are used for the purpose of land development in line with planning.
Our highly qualified team are able to provide material management solutions from initial planning through to final verification of moved material. From the smallest projects to improve recycling/recovery figures and avoidance of waste exemptions, through to the movement of thousands of lorry loads of material.
As part of good practice, an adequate Materials Management Plan (MMP) will be developed, based on appropriate risk assessment.
Lines of evidence are then reviewed by a CL:AIRE Qualified Person. If satisfied they will sign a declaration and submit the project information to CL:AIRE, who shares this with the Environment Agency. Wittering Projects have an in-house Qualified Person who can provide professional guidance on the application and management of DoW CoP on your project.
They also provide haulage companies, developers, consultants and contractors a reliable service for submitting independent CL:AIRE declarations.
In summary, we provide:
- Advice on streamlined material management from early project stages.
- Produce Material Management Plans (MMPs) and supporting documentation.
- Our in-house Qualified Person can review evidence and submit CL:AIRE declarations.
- Collation of documentation and evidence to produce the final verification report at the end of the project.
